Cal State Long Beach has appointed a new board of governors to assist President Curtis McCray in development activities including fund raising, strategic planning and external relations.
Composed of influential community members from throughout Southern California, the board is chaired by Joseph Prevratil, a prominent local businessman.
Other members are Wayne Armstrong, president of Del Taco/Naugles; John Capellupo, deputy president of Douglas Aircraft Co.; Michael Choppin, president of IDM Corp.; Jane Netherton, president of International City Bank; and Peter Ridder, publisher of the Long Beach Press-Telegram.
In addition to providing assistance in establishing fund-raising priorities and financial goals, university officials say, the 15-member group appointed by McCray will aid in the cultivation of supporters for the university and the development of professional and public service opportunities for students and faculty.
