Norwalk, Conn.-based Great Northern Nekoosa Corp. shareholders approved a $5-billion takeover by Georgia-Pacific Corp., Atlanta, creating the nation’s largest paper and forest products company . . . California State Bank, Covina, and Empire Bank, Ontario, said they agreed to merge . . . Softsel/Microamerica, one of the nation’s largest wholesale distributors of microcomputer products, has chosen Merisel as its new company name . . . Seattle-based Boeing Co. announced that Thai Airways International has ordered five 747-400 jets worth about $800 million . . . Investment Company Institute reported that the assets of the nation’s 512 money market mutual funds rose $1.29 billion in the week ended June 20.
