Sayde Tisch Busch; Mother of CBS, Loews Executives

Sayde Tisch Busch, 91, matriarch of the Tisch family and mother of the presidents of CBS Inc. and Loews Corp. Mrs. Tisch Busch was the mother of Laurence A. Tisch, president and chief executive of CBS and chairman and co-chief executive officer, with his brother, of Loews Corp. Preston Robert Tisch is president and co-chief executive officer of Loews Corp. and a former U.S. postmaster general. Their mother married Al Tisch, a New York City clothing manufacturer, in 1920. By the mid-1950s, the family operated 12 East Coast hotels, and as it grew, acquired stock in Loews Theaters Inc. Al Tisch died in 1960. His widow married S. Harry Busch of Knoxville, Tenn., in 1969.
