Bob Hope Donates $1 Million: Bob Hope has donated $1 million--the largest individual contribution to date--to the endowment fund for the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences soon-to-be-completed Center for Motion Picture Study. Academy President Karl Malden said the center’s lobby will be named in honor of Hope. The center is slated for a fall 1990 opening at the corner of La Cienega and Olympic boulevards. The structure was originally Beverly Hills’ water processing facility.
