A Wednesday night fire caused by the wiring in a motorized bed resulted in $250,000 in damage to four condominium units in the 12000 block of Wintercrest Drive in Lakeside. No one was injured.
About 60 firefighters responded to the 9:22 p.m. blaze, Lakeside Deputy Fire Marshal Tom Ace said.
Firefighters from Lakeside, Santee, El Cajon, La Mesa, and San Miguel fought the blaze, using nine engines and four trucks, Ace said.
The families living in the four units that were destroyed were placed in hotels and motels by the American Red Cross, he said.
