Boy, 5, Killed by Pickup as He Runs Into Street

CYPRESS — A 5-year-old boy was struck and killed by a pickup truck Monday when he ran into traffic, police said.
Bren Mangubat of Cerritos suffered massive head injuries and was pronounced dead at La Palma Community Hospital shortly after the 5:40 p.m. accident, Cypress police dispatcher Cyndy Dodinez said.
The boy, who was visiting his grandmother on the 4200 block of Opal Street, “ran out into traffic . . . and was struck by a slow moving pickup truck,” Dodinez said.
