MCA to Invest in Comic Book Company: MCA Inc. said it had an agreement in principle to buy a minority stake in Harvey Comics Entertainment, the Santa Monica-based publisher of “Casper, the Friendly Ghost” and “Ritchie Rich” comic books. MCA will try to exploit the Harvey characters through its film, television, theme park and merchandising activities. “They are trying to build their company. We gave them some money to do that,” explained Thomas Pollock, chairman of the MCA Motion Pictures Group. The price was not disclosed.
