As a police officer, it is very frustrating, as well as dangerous, to come across people who speak little or no English. To have someone tell you in a foreign language that he was attacked at gunpoint, or that a suspect involved in an in-progress family argument is armed, puts the officers and the victims in grave danger.
I’m glad Los Angeles is a melting pot. But let’s keep it so that we all understand each other.
