Marina’s David Schultz Signs With UCLA

David Schultz, a pitcher/outfielder who helped Marina High School win the Southern Section 5-A Division title last season, has signed a letter of intent to attend UCLA in the fall.
Schultz, who also was recruited by Cal State Long Beach and Cal State Fullerton, was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 40th round.
In 31 games his senior year, Schultz had a .362 batting average, scored 20 runs and had 32 runs batted in. He also had a record of 7-2 with a 1.55 earned-run average. In the playoffs, Schultz was 2-0 with two complete games and an 0.50 ERA.
Schultz was selected second-team all-Southern Section as a utility player and was all-Sunset League as an outfielder.
