Faldo Isn’t Dull, He’s a Champion

I’m sorry, but Jim Murray’s write-up of Nick Faldo’s victory at the British Open (July 23) was one of the most tasteless pieces of writing I have ever encountered. I thought one of the goals of sports was to always do one’s best. Now, wouldn’t you say Nick gave an absolutely wonderful performance?

Does Joe Montana bore you because he completes so many passes? Does Larry Bird bore you? Nolan Ryan? Poor Jim. Most of us enjoyed Nick Faldo’s golf very much. Why didn’t you just change the channel?
