George Steinbrenner still intends to step down as managing general partner of the New York Yankees on Monday, one of his lawyers said.

Stephen E. Kaufman said Steinbrenner “intends to comply with the agreement he made with the commissioner.” He also said Steinbrenner still wants no part of a suit, filed by two of the team’s limited partners that seeks to keep Steinbrenner in charge.
