Theodore E. Bean has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer of Live Entertainment Inc., a Van Nuys video and recorded music distributor and retailer. He will succeed Roger R. Smith, who is resigning to take a position with Carolco Pictures, which owns approximately 48% of Live.
Bean, 48, is chief financial officer at Pace Membership Warehouse. Live’s chairman, Wayne H. Patterson, who joined the company in April, was formerly chairman of Pace.
Before Pace, Bean was a partner in the Denver office of Deloitte & Touche and headed the accounting firm’s retail and emerging companies practices.
Patterson said Bean would join Live next month and would work with Smith during a transition.
Live also said it named Michael J. White to the newly created position of senior vice president and general counsel. White is Pace’s general counsel.
