WASHINGTON — President Bush will make a televised address to Congress next Tuesday night, the White House announced today.
Bush will speak to a joint session of the House and Senate at 6 p.m. PST.
The White House did not announce the topic of the speech, but it was expected to cover the crisis in the Persian Gulf. It will follow Bush’s weekend trip to Helsinki for a hasty summit with Soviet President Mikhail S. Gorbachev.
Bush was to have made a political trip to California and Denver on Tuesday and Wednesday to raise money for Republican candidates, but the White House announced today that the trip had been postponed.
