Quartz Hill 24, Antelope Valley 7--Jake Haro’s 37-yard touchdown pass to Josh Patterson in the second quarter broke a 7-7 tie and league champion Quartz Hill (8-2, 5-0) went on to beat the visiting Antelopes (2-8, 1-4).
Quartz Hill scored just 89 seconds into the game after Antelope Valley’s Freddy Edwards fumbled the opening kickoff. The Rebels went 20 yards in four plays, capped by David Nelson’s one-yard run.
Antelope Valley gained 147 yards rushing in the first half, but managed only 26 in the second half. Antelope Valley quarterback Mike Fossati led all rushers with 83 yards in 12 carries.
Erik Thomas had 67 yards in 14 carries for Quartz Hill. Teammate Selves Smith carried nine times for 48 yards and a touchdown.
