NEW YORK — Dick Motta, coach of the Sacramento Kings, has been suspended for one game and fined $500 for bumping an official during a game against the New York Knicks.
“Any time a player or coach intentionally bumps an official, it’s an automatic suspension,” Rod Thorn, NBA vice president, operations, said today in announcing Motta’s penalty.
The incident occurred during the third quarter of Saturday night’s game, won by the Knicks 93-88.
Motta’s suspension will be in effect for the Kings’ next game, Thursday night at home against San Antonio.
