Datum Posts $500,000 Loss in Third Quarter

Datum Inc., the Anaheim manufacturer of precision frequency products and timing instruments, incurred a third-quarter loss of $500,000, contrasted with net income of $440,000 for the corresponding 1989 quarter. Sales were down 29%, to $6.7 million from $9.5 million.
For the nine-month period, the company lost $664,000, contrasted with year-earlier net income of $980,000. Sales fell 19%, to $22.1 million from $27.2 million.
Louis B. Horwitz, president, attributed the loss to insufficient new business and the relocation costs of a subsidiary.
