Idol Sidelined: Rock singer Billy Idol, on a comeback tour after a serious motorcycle accident, has been briefly sidelined in Europe by a contact lens injury. Idol, in the second week of his “Charmed Life” European tour, canceled four shows after his corneas were lacerated by grit that got under his lenses. The injury, which occurred during an outdoor show in Oslo, Norway, last week, forced Idol to cancel concerts earlier this week in Gothenberg, Sweden; Copenhagen, Denmark and Brussels, Belgium, his spokeswomen said. To protect his eyes from damage under the bright stage lights, Idol has to wear sunglasses, with a patch over his more badly injured right eye. Idol plans to re-schedule the canceled shows. His European tour started Nov. 14 in Helsinki, Finland.
