A suspected drunk driver caused at least three traffic accidents Monday, including one that broke a water main, flooding Sherman Way in Van Nuys for an hour and a half, Los Angeles police said.
Ramon Antonio Sandoval, 32, of Van Nuys was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving, Officer Walter Hogue said.
Police said Sandoval struck one vehicle that was stopped at a curb at Sherman Way and Sepulveda Boulevard while the occupants read a map. “He fled from that accident with them chasing him,” Hogue said. “He jumped a center divider, hit a westbound car and that car hit another car.”
Sandoval’s car struck a water main on the center divider, sending water shooting into the air, police said. Westbound lanes of Sherman Way were closed for an hour and a half while workers repaired the broken line.
