Asphalt Maker Closes: Edgington Oil, a Long Beach maker of paving and roofing products, has shut down all but minimal operations. Most of its estimated 75 employees were sent home from work Wednesday, after the company said it could not meet its payroll. Edgington is looking to refinance its debts. The company’s 50% owner, Clark Oil Trading Co., is no longer providing financing.
