A woman who worked as a bookkeeper for thoroughbred trainer Charles Whittingham was sentenced to four years in state prison today for embezzling nearly $1.5 million from him.
Sally Ann Stubblefield, 54, was also ordered by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Reginald Dunn to pay Whittingham $150,000 restitution.
Stubblefield pleaded no contest in November to one count of grand theft and three counts of forgery.
The prosecutor said Stubblefield forged more than 500 checks in the names of Whittingham’s former employees, then deposited the checks in her bank account over a five-year period.
