Four Lancaster teen-agers were arrested Monday after they detonated two homemade pipe bombs in an abandoned shed, Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said.
The youths, 14 through 16, whose names were not released because of their ages, were held on suspicion of possessing an explosive device, said Lt. David Collin. They were released to their parents.
Authorities believe the boys made the bombs and detonated them about 9 a.m. in a building at 190th Street West and Avenue E-2, blowing out windows and doors and causing an estimated $700 to $1,000 damage to the structure. There were no injuries.
