Santa Barbara 50, Saugus 41--Matt Purdy scored 11 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter, breaking what had been a 31-31 tie as Santa Barbara earned a spot in a championship game for the first time since 1935.
Purdy, a 6-foot-8 forward who will play at Northwestern next year, opened the fourth quarter with two three-point shots and hit five of six free throws later in the quarter in the I-A game at Santa Barbara City College.
Greg Yumbar topped Saugus (20-10) with 15.
Millikan 86, Lynwood 74--Millikan outlasted a possible comeback by hitting 12 of its 15 fourth-quarter free throws in a I-AA semifinal game at Dominguez High.
Dante Powell had 24 points, Pat Thacker 23 and Jamie Davis 21 for Millikan (24-4), which will meet Long Beach Jordan in the finals.
Woodbridge 65, San Marcos 63--San Marcos’ 6-9 center, Rob Ramaker, scored 25 points but missed a three-point shot with two seconds remaining in a II-A game at Irvine High.
Woodbridge hit three of four three-point shots in the fourth quarter. Mike Fenton topped the Warriors (20-8) with 17 points.
Tustin 71, Muir 57--The Tillers forced six turnovers during an 11-1 run in the first four minutes of the second half and never trailed again during a II-AA game at Pasadena High.
Muir, which led by as many as eight points in the second quarter and was ahead, 38-32, at halftime, scored only 19 points and turned the ball over 14 times in the second half. Jacque Vaughn had 18 points, but only five in the second half for Muir (22-5).
David Beilstein’s 17 points led Tustin (25-4).
Morningside 65, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 54--An 8-0 run late in the fourth quarter put the top-seeded Monarchs into the Division III-A championship game.
Notre Dame, which shot 46% (11 of 24) from the field in the first half, shot only 26% (five of 19) in the fourth quarter.
Arthur Savage finished with a game-high 21 points and Dwight Curry added 16 for Morningside (27-3). Sophomore Stais Boseman, the team’s leading scorer averaging 19 points, scored 13 points.
G.C. Marcaccini topped Notre Dame (23-5) with 20 points.
Brentwood 65, Brethren Christian 40--Kevin Rille led Brentwood (17-10) with 16 points, Ricky David added 14 and Scott Clarey 13 in a V-AA game at Harvard High. Brandon Stott had 15 for Brethren Christian.
Ribet Academy 99, Hemet Baptist Christian 54--Jaiquin Moore had 28 points, Jrmirol Duncan 23 and Andre English 21 leading Ribet Academy in a rout in a V-A game at La Canada.
