Mark Keppel High School in Alhambra has renamed its baseball field in honor of a longtime athletic coach who retired last year.
A ceremony Saturday honoring Maynard Horst, who coached baseball at Mark Keppel for more than 35 years, was held at the baseball diamond in between a double-header game, said Tony Ortega, assistant principal.
Several hundred people, including many of Horst’s former students, returned to their alma mater to attend the event. Horst, who retired last June, was assistant principal during his last 15 years at the school.
