Beverly Hills : Water-Reduction Plan

The city’s Public Works Commission will forward a water cutback plan to the City Council that asks residents in single-family homes to reduce water consumption 30% and commercial, industrial and municipal users to consume 20% less water.
Under the proposal, which will be discussed at a public hearing at the council meeting Tuesday night, consumers will pay a penalty if reduction goals are not met. Water rates would increase from $2 per unit to $7.50 for users who exceed their limit. They also would pay a 100% surcharge in addition to their regular bill.
A letter outlining the conservation measures and adjusted rates will be mailed to all residents if the City Council approves the plan.
