Police and sheriff’s deputies arrested 52 people suspected of prostitution activities in separate sweeps conducted in Hollywood and the unincorporated community of East Pasadena, authorities said Friday.
Hollywood Division vice officers arrested a total of 30 people in an eight-hour sweep of locations that had been the source of complaints of prostitution activity, Sgt. Roger Blackwood said.
Nine women and 18 men were suspected of prostitution, one woman was suspected of lewd conduct and one other woman was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant. A man was arrested for pandering after he allegedly asked a woman undercover police officer to work for him as a prostitute, Blackwood said.
