HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Westlake Wins 3rd in a Row Behind Hitting of Preston

Todd Preston went two for four with a three-run triple to lead visiting Westlake High to a 16-7 win over Buena in a nonleague baseball game Saturday.
Westlake (8-8 overall), which won its third consecutive game, had a season-high 15 hits, including three from both Rico Lagattuta and Chris Lafabe. Dave Monheim and Tim Wootten added two apiece.
In other baseball games:
L.A. Baptist 9, Harvard 8--Jason Baumsteiger went three for three and scored three times and Steve Klein had three hits to help the host Knights (6-6) past Harvard in a championship semifinal of the L. A. Baptist tournament.
Darrell Smedley, who picked up his first save, came in relief of John Gabrielson (2-0) in the sixth inning. Smedley struck out three and did not allow a hit.
L. A. Baptist will play Calabasas on May 8 in the championship game.
Campbell Hall 17-18, Claremont 4-13--Ted Park was six for eight for Campbell Hall, which collected 33 hits in a nonleague doubleheader at Campbell Hall. Matt Metzgar had three hits, including his first home run, in the opener for Campbell Hall (4-6).
SOFTBALL
Simi Valley 2, Garden Grove 0--Michele Castonguay (8-1) allowed three hits and Beth Maples drove in both runs with a single in the second inning to lead Simi Valley (13-3) in the third-place game of the Canyon Tournament of Champions.
