La Verne : Park Gets a New Name

La Verne Recreation Park has been renamed Wheeler Avenue Park.
The City Council Monday approved a recommendation by the Parks and Human Services Commission to rename the park after agreeing that residents were confused about the park name and that many people are already calling it Wheeler Avenue Park.
City Manager Martin R. Lomeli added that using the words “recreation” and “park” was redundant. The park is just west of Wheeler Avenue and north of Arrow Highway.
