Regarding your article about the threatened California gnatcatcher, which exists in the few remaining patches of coastal sage and may be eliminated by building houses on the land (Part A, June 2):
If all of its original range from the eastern San Fernando Valley to Claremont were bulldozed level and sage replanted, the bird would have lots of habitat.
