SIMI VALLEY : Police Attribute 1980 Death to Poisoning
- Share via
A 24-year-old man who died 11 years ago was killed by cyanide poisoning, Simi Valley police disclosed this week.
Kevin Butler’s body was found in his Simi Valley residence on Dec. 11, 1980, Simi Valley Police Lt. Bob Klamser said.
The autopsy and initial toxicology tests failed to find the cause of death, and police could not initially determine that Butler’s death was a homicide, Klamser said.
However, toxicology tests revealed about two months later that the man died of cyanide poisoning, Klamser said. His death was listed as a homicide, Klamser said.
Police--who confirmed the poisoning after information about it appeared in another publication--declined to discuss more details of the case, which remains under investigation.
