Com Systems Sells Part of Its Billing, Collection Unit
- Share via
Com Systems Inc., a Westlake Village long-distance telephone company, said it completed the sale of “a substantial portion” of its billing and collection unit, Operator Assistance Network, to Electronic Data Systems, a Dallas-based subsidiary of General Motors.
The sale was closed on June 28, Com Systems said. Terms were not disclosed.
Com Systems said Operator Assistance would continue to handle its billing and collection operations. It said the cash raised from selling the unit would help strengthen its balance sheet and expand its long-distance business.
Com Systems recently agreed to merge with Resurgens Communications Group Inc., an Atlanta telecommunications company that owns a controlling interest in Com Systems. The merger will take the form of a stock swap and is expected to be completed by Aug. 31.
