A San Diego man was killed and a National City man was injured in a gunfight over a woman, National City police reported Saturday.
Bayani Zuniga and Vernon Isip, both 39, had been arguing about the woman, a mutual friend, for several weeks, witnesses told authorities.
The argument turned violent Friday when Zuniga, a resident of the 300 block of South Meadowbrook Drive in San Diego, drove to Isip’s apartment complex in the 1100 block of Palm Avenue in National City.
The two men, both carrying handguns, confronted each other outside the complex and exchanged shots, police said.
Zuniga died at the scene at 11:08 p.m. and Isip was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he is reported in good condition.
No one has been arrested and the incident is under investigation, police said.
