Polaroid Corp.: The Cambridge, Mass., maker of instant-image cameras and films, said second-quarter income slipped 18% from a year ago to $26.8 million as sales climbed 10% to $521.4 million. The company said that although camera shipments increased, earnings were reduced by, among other things, continued manufacturing start-up costs for new products and a planned increase in marketing expenditures to support future growth.
