O.C. Players Help U.S. Win Baseball Opener

The United States won its opening game in the World Youth Baseball Championships, 10-1, over Italy. Orange County players contributed four hits to Friday’s victory at Brandon, Canada.
Villa Park’s Aaron Boone led the attack with a home run. Orange’s Lionel Hastings added two hits and Cale Carter one.
The third-seeded Americans meet second-ranked Taipei--Cuba is seeded first--tonight in the second of 10 games.
