SIMI VALLEY : Newscaster to Stand Trial on Lewdness
- Share via
A Los Angeles newscaster accused of committing lewd acts with a 13-year-old girl was ordered Friday to stand trial in Ventura County Superior Court.
After a preliminary hearing, Ventura County Municipal Judge John J. Hunter ruled that there is enough evidence to warrant trial for Bruce G. Bernhart, 39, a newscaster at radio station KNX-AM.
The girl told police that she went to Bernhart’s home in Simi Valley to interview for a baby-sitting job. She said Bernhart told her he wanted to play a game and then blindfolded her. While she was blindfolded, Bernhart touched the girl in a sexual manner, police said.
Hunter scheduled arraignment for Aug. 16 before Superior Court Judge Lawrence Storch. Bernhart remains free on his own recognizance.
