Creation of a commission to review the architectural design of new building projects and renovations was given tentative approval Wednesday by the City Council.
If its formation is approved in a final vote set for Sept. 18, the 10-member board would be responsible for reviewing the design of proposed residential and commercial developments and exterior changes to existing buildings. Its rulings could be appealed to the Planning Commission.
The council agreed that the board would include a minimum of four architects. At least two other members would be required to be landscape architects and two others would have to be qualified in a design-related field.
