5th-Graders Can’t Bear It

The enclosed letters were written by my class of fifth-grade deaf and hard-of-hearing children.
They were upset to learn that the bears would be killed if they return to an urban area again (“The Three Bears: ‘Panhandlers’ Returned to the Wild for the Last Time,” Sept. 7).

Editor’s Note: The class consensus was that the bears--who had been raiding homes in Frazier Park and Montecito--should be put in a zoo if they cannot find happiness in their new wilderness habitat in the Western Sierra. Above is the way one of the students envisions the black bear family.
