A bicycle similar to one that 9-year-old murder victim Amanda Gaeke was seen with shortly before her disappearance was turned over to San Diego Police homicide detectives, the department reported.
The bicycle was spotted Saturday by a person who told authorities he saw it being discarded along with other trash by a man near Lake Jennings in Lakeside.
The tipster notified the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, which then contacted San Diego police.
San Diego Police Lt. Paul Ybarrondo said Sunday that detectives were examining the bicycle to determine whether it belonged to Amanda.
It was one of several bicycles recovered by police since the department asked for public assistance last week in tracking down the bike that the young girl had when she was last seen alive earlier this month. Her body was found Oct. 14.
