Igor Larionov and the Vancouver Canucks broke out of slumps Sunday.
Larionov hadn’t had a goal in 10 games and the Canucks had been having problems with their special units play. But both became a thing of the past in the Canucks’ 7-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers at Vancouver.
Larionov had a hat trick and the Canucks scored four power-play goals and a shorthanded goal.
Larionov scored two goals on the power play and one shorthanded--all on rebounds.
It was the Canucks’ first win in three games against their Smythe rivals.
St. Louis 3, Winnipeg 3--Defenseman Jeff Brown scored with 28 seconds left in regulation at Winnipeg as the Blues rallied from a two-goal deficit late in the third period.
Nelson Emerson scored a pair of goals for the Blues, who are unbeaten in their last eight games (3-0-5).
Fredrik Olausson, Phil Housley and Ed Olczyk scored for the Jets.
Minnesota 4, Chicago 4--The North Stars gained a tie at Chicago when Mike Modano scored his second goal of the game with 3:58 remaining in regulation.
Modano, who also had an assist, sent a 15-footer from the deep slot through a pack of players to beat Jimmy Waite.
Jocelyn Lemieux’s fluke goal, deflecting in off Minnesota defenseman Jim Johnson, had broken a 3-3 tie at 15:28 of the second period.
