World Boxing Council officials said they will refuse to recognize this month’s bout between heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield and Italian challenger Francesco Damiani as a title fight.
The WBC said it was unable to sanction the Nov. 23 bout because Holyfield has yet to face Mike Tyson, the No. 1 contender to his heavyweight crown.
