Honor for Pavarotti: Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti won the first artist of the year award Monday at the annual Gramophoneclassical music awards. The artist of the year recognizes musicians whose contributions, recordings and live appearances have enhanced the recording industry. Pavarotti received his award from Dame Joan Sutherland, who herself accepted a lifetime achievement award.
