Bishop Amat Wins Academic Decathlon

Bishop Amat High School in La Puente won first place in the annual Southern California Private Schools Academic Decathlon. Bishop Amat, which has won first place for the past five years, competed against 18 high schools.
Bishop Amat winners were:
* Economics--Chris Sanchez, Peter DeVries and Joseph Ybarra.
* Fine arts--Sheila Espineli.
* Interview--Ybarra and Marco Torres.
* Language--Sanchez and DeVries.
* Literature--John Henry.
* Mathematics--Sanchez and DeVries.
* Science--Sanchez, DeVries, Espineli, Regina Wallace and Charles Lee.
* Social studies--Espineli.
