Honors for Janet: Janet Jackson was named Monday to receive a special honor at the 24th annual NAACP Image Awards on Jan. 11. The 25-year-old singer was chosen for the Chairman’s Award of the National Assn. for Advancement of Colored People for her contributions to charity and humanitarian endeavors. The organization noted that among other activities, last year during a nine-month concert tour Jackson donated 25 cents from every ticket to a program aimed at keeping youngsters from dropping out of school.
