The Roy Campanella Run & Walk will be held Sunday and features 5K and 10K runs, a 5K walk and a wheelchair-division race.
Money raised through sponsors and race registration fees will go to benefit the Northridge Heart Institute at the Northridge Hospital Medical Center.
The Northridge Hospital Foundation, the Valley Edition of the Los Angeles Times and the Los Angeles Dodgers are the main sponsors of the event.
The event is being held in the name of former Dodger Roy Campanella, who has been a patient at the hospital for many years.
“It’s a way of giving something back for all the things that (Campanella) has done for people over the years,” said Kristine Voyle, special-events coordinator for the Northridge hospital.
The race will start at 9 a.m. at the corner of Plummer Street and Lindley Avenue at Cal State Northridge. Registration forms will be available on the day of the race.
