A Santa Paula woman awakened three of her neighbors who were sleeping in a burning house and escorted them to safety, police said Sunday.
Rosa Tellez was coming home from work about 10:45 p.m. Saturday when she saw smoke coming from her neighbors’ attic vent, said Santa Paula Police Cadet Mike Soprano.
Tellez, who lives in the 200 block of 11th Street, called the Fire Department from her home across the street, then ran into her neighbor’s house and woke three people, Soprano said.
“The Fire Department said she probably saved their lives,” Soprano said. The fire, sparked by faulty wiring, was confined to the attic, he said.
