TAIPEI, Taiwan — All five crewmen aboard were believed killed when a China Airlines cargo jumbo jet caught fire and crashed in a mountainous area in northern Taiwan on Sunday, officials said.
The Boeing 747-200 reported engine trouble within moments of leaving Taipei airport for Anchorage, Alaska, an airline spokesman said.
He said the control tower then lost contact with the plane, which crashed near Wanli, a village 19 miles north of Taipei.
Rescuers located the charred wreckage but found no sign of survivors.
