The Bruins have closed their practices leading up to Tuesday’s game (11:30 a.m., PST, Channel 2). Said Illinois Coach Lou Tepper: “I would think that UCLA would change their plan in some significant ways. I don’t think they would have closed their practices if they were going to play with a pat hand.”
Tepper will be making his debut as a head coach. He replaces John Mackovic, who quit to become coach at Texas. Receivers coach Cleve Bryant followed Mackovic to Texas.
Also, defensive back Marlon Primous, a four-year starter, will miss the game because of an injury.
