La Verne : Helicopter Schools Opposed

After successfully persuading the Bracket Airport management to limit helicopter training flights to an area south of Arrow Highway, the City Council found that although this solved the noise problem for many, it has made it worse for residents of Walnut Street--just south of the highway.

Walnut Street resident Modie Lopez suggested to the council Monday that the training flights be spread over the city instead of limited to one area.

Instead, the council decided to send a letter to Los Angeles County supervisors, putting the city on record as being opposed to the presence of helicopter schools at the county-run airfield.

Also, the council suggested that residents of Walnut Street apply for grants from the La Verne Community Redevelopment Agency to insulate their homes against the noise.
