Go figure: Sunny Hills basketball Coach Steve White can’t understand why only a few colleges have shown any interest in his top player, Terry Mann.
Mann, a 6-foot-7 center, averages 23 points, 13 rebounds, six blocked shots and three assists per game. He has a 4.6 grade-point average and has scored 1,360 out of a possible 1,600 on his Scholastic Aptitude Test.
Yet only five colleges--Cal, Stanford, Princeton, Yale and USC--have shown any interest, more for his academics than his athletic abilities.
“I definitely think Terry is being overlooked,” White said. “I don’t know why. I just think they haven’t been out to see him play.
“Terry will definitely go somewhere for the academics, and he may just walk on for basketball.”
