EL RIO : Man Seriously Hurt in Shooting Near Apartment Complex

An Oxnard man was seriously wounded early Saturday as he walked near an El Rio apartment complex, Ventura County sheriff’s deputies said.
Charles Watts, 33, was taken to St. John’s Medical Center with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen, a sheriff’s deputy said.
Watts was in critical condition after surgery, a hospital spokeswoman said Saturday.
Witnesses are still being sought and interviewed, authorities said, and no suspects have been identified.
Responding to reports of gunshots, authorities found Watts near the apartments on the 500 block of Alvarado Street about 3:40 a.m.
The bullet came from what appeared to be a small-caliber weapon, authorities said.
