HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : San Dieguito Second in Wrestling Tournament

Despite sending only two competitors to the final round, San Dieguito High’s wrestling team racked up 157 points and finished second among 38 schools in the Jim Londos Memorial Tournament at Orange Glen Saturday.
Anaheim Savanna won the tournament with 204 1/2 points.
San Dieguito’s Ken Hickman captured the 172-pound weight class, defeating El Camino’s Sean Gerlock, 10-5. Mustang Trevor North fell to Joe Tezak of Mt. Carmel, 15-5, at 104 pounds.
Despite having three individual champions--Jeff Golling at 119, Russell Whitaker at 135 and Mike Ronalds at 161--Escondido had to settle for third with 138 points.
Mt. Carmel was fourth, Orange Glen fifth.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Madison Madhouse Cage Classic
Point Loma 66, Madison 62--Madison (8-8) cut a 17-point first-quarter deficit to three in the fourth quater, but could never overtake Point Loma (8-5). Michael Driver led the Pointers with 20 points, Justin Miller and Ken Campbell had 14 apiece. Shane Lantz led Madison with 20 points and Matt Baker added 19.
University City 63, Clairemont 56--Barry Waits hit three three-pointers and scored a game-high 16 points to lead UC (7-5). John Brady led Clairemont (5-6) with 15 points and Stan Saballett added 11.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Harbor League
Christian 66, Francis Parker 29--Christian’s Tiffany Stutz had a triple-double--35 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals--in the Patriots’ runaway victory.
